Today, CNN hosted the first major event of the 2020 election season. Kamala Harris had a open town hall, where a CNN host asked her questions about her policies. Kamala Harris is known for co-sponsoring the Healthcare for all bill with Socialist and fellow Democrat Bernie Sanders.

Jake Tapper, the CNN host hosting the town hall, asked a hard-hitting question. He noted that her policy idea would prevent people who like their current healthcare insurance provider for keeping their current plan, and asked what she planned to do about it. To which, she replied, “Well, listen, the idea is that everyone gets access to medical care. And you don’t have to go through the process of going through an insurance company, having them give you approval, going through the paperwork, all of the delay that may require.” She then goes further to say, “Who among us has not had that situation? Where you got to wait for approval, and the doctor says, ‘Well I don’t know if your insurance company is going to cover this.’ Let’s eliminate all of that. Let’s move on.”

This idea of “moving on” from privatized healthcare is extremely alarming to many conservatives and many liberals could agree. The fact that we could lose the right to choose our own healthcare insurance provider is alarming, and doesn’t account for each illness and health challenge we could all face.

Kamala Harris may be appealing to votes on the far-left base, but is alarming the right, and center regions of voters.
